A New Peak-Shaving Model Based on Mixed Integer Linear Programming with Variable Peak-Shaving Order

Peak-shaving is a very efficient and practical strategy for day-ahead hydropower scheduling in power systems, usually aiming to appropriately schedule hourly (or less time interval) generations of individual plants so as smooth the load curve while enforcing energy production target each plant. Nowadays, marketization booming development renewable resources are complicating constraints diversifying objectives, bringing challenges peak-shaving method be more flexible efficient. Without pre-set or fixed order plants, this paper formulates new model based on mixed integer linear programming (MILP) solve problem an optimization way. Compared with traditional methods that need determine peak-shave one by one, present has better flexibility it can handle plant-based operating zones prioritize objectives easily.
